Duties: To conduct research, write publications and present at conferences. To contribute to the research project, the primary aims of which are the development of freight flow forecasts and uncertainty quantification and scenario evaluation within an agent based simulation platform designed by the University of Hull. To publish in leading journals and, where appropriate, to contribute to publications in these journals jointly with other members of the project. To provide regular progress reports to the Line Managers and the commercial partners. To attend and contribute to project meetings with staff from the commercial partners. To support the investigators in preparing reports for the project quarterly meetings
Requirements: An MSc in Statistics or closely related discipline. Statistical computing skills, including programming in R/C or equivalent languages. Effective interpersonal skills, including evidence of working collaboratively as part of a team

The LHOFT project seeks to unlock the full potential of the ports and logistics services along the M62 corridor to better move freight originating from or destined for the north of England. The research is in collaboration with the Logistics Institute at the University of Hull and an extensive consortium of industrial partners led by P&O Ferries and including Unilever, Nestle, KraftHeinz and Unipart. You will contribute to the development of forecasting freight flows and uncertainty quantification and scenario evaluation within an agent based simulation platform designed by the University of Hull. This is an exciting time to be joining one of the largest and strongest Statistics groups in the UK, comprising 26 academic staff, 10 research associates and over 40 FTE research students. The Statistics group has an excellent reputation for industrial-relevant statistics and hosts the EPSRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistics and Operational Research in partnership with industry, STOR-i ( www.stor-i.lancs.ac.uk ) The Department provides a research environment that strongly supports the needs of each member, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
