Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or similar relevant field required; Minimum three years of experience collecting, manipulating and analyzing large data sets required; demonstrated experience using spreadsheets, database tools, and data analysis at the enterprise level highly desired. Strong problem solving skills. Ability to prepare polished reports on data analysis that include visualizations such as graphs, charts and dashboards

You will contribute to the department by serving as the primary resource for data analytics activities of priority within the Provost’s Office, particularly in the offices of the Vice Provost for Research and Vice Provost for Education, and enable the realization of several key long-term strategic projects envisioned within these offices. Core responsibilities will include: Process, summarize and bring order to raw data related to the academic research enterprise, transforming data into actionable information on which leadership can make decisions and set policies. Provide data analyses including: comparing research results from the University to those of academic competitors; identifying technical areas of strength at different levels of granularity; providing publication based metrics on faculty, department, college and university performance; identifying connections with faculty, with colleges in CMU and with external entities. Work with business and technical staff to interconnect various databases on campus to streamline continuous data analytics Work with web/design staff to generate connections from database information to import into web page communications for internal and external use Participate in regular meetings with immediate supervisors and Provost Office staff to report progress and discuss challenges. Recommends solutions to practical problems. Makes suggestions for procedural improvements. Work with relevant faculty, students and staff to validate data and collect new data when appropriate.
