Position: Postdoc Position in Ubiquitous Computing and Computer Vision

Duties: The Social Computing Group at Idiap is seeking a highly creative and motivated postdoctoral researcher in ubiquitous computing and computer vision. Specific areas of interest are: activity recognition from video and phone sensor data and social media and crowdsensed data analytics for urban computing. The proposed research will be carried out in the context of an interdisciplinary project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The position offers the opportunity to do exciting research at the interface between human behavior analysis and cities
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in computer science or a related area, with experience in machine learning, computer vision, or signal processing for ubiquitous computing, and a strong publication record in either computer vision or ubicomp. The applicant will also have strong programming skills with Python and C/C++, under the Linux environment. Knowledge in deep learning (TensorFlow, pyTorch, Caffe) is an asset

Specific areas of interest are (1) activity recognition from video and phone sensor data and (2) social media and crowdsensed data analytics for urban computing. The proposed research will be carried out in the context of an interdisciplinary project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The position offers the opportunity to do exciting research at the interface between human behavior analysis and cities. The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in computer science or a related area, with experience in machine learning, computer vision, or signal processing for ubiquitous computing, and a strong publication record in either computer vision or ubicomp. The appointment for the position is for one year with a possible second-year extension. Starting date is immediate.
