Text: We are looking for a computational biologist to support cryoEM research groups at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna. The core of the IMP cryoEM community is formed by three structural biology groups - the Clausen, Haselbach and Plaschka labs, whose research focuses on complex molecular machines implicated in transcriptional and translational regulation and in protein quality control. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with these groups, and carry out the following tasks: • Support of high-performance computing (e.g. implementation and testing of EM software tools within the institute’s cluster). • Support in evaluating EM data, ranging from image analysis to model building and refinement. • Development of scripts and software tools for image processing. • Computational training of PhD students and Postdocs. The candidate should have a well-documented experience in computational biology and/or high-performance computing. A structural biology background is an advantage but not a prerequisite. Motivated applicants from other areas of computational biology are welcome to apply. Proficiency with at least one scripting language (bash, python etc.) and a higher language (C++, Java etc.) is necessary. Further training in protein biochemistry or biophysics is a plus. Interested candidates should send a cover letter and a CV to: Tim Clausen (tim.clausen@imp.ac.at), David Haselbach (david.haselbach@imp.ac.at) or Clemens Plaschka (clemens.plaschka@imp.ac.at). The application will close as soon as it is filled. Computational Biologist for Structural Biology
