Duties: The post-holder will contribute to a programme of methodological work aimed at making systematic reviews more efficient, including development and/or evaluation of automated or semi-automated approaches to identifying, summarising, critiquing and synthesizing research studies in various topic areas. Implementing and developing text mining, machine learning and/or other automation methods to support systematic reviews. Ensuring data are captured in an appropriate database format. Protocol writing for systematic reviews. Liaising with search specialists to undertake literature searches. Contributing to systematic reviews, for example in study selection, data extraction, synthesis and interpretation of findings
Requirements: The successful candidate is likely to have a high level of understanding and experience in text mining/machine learning with a strong interest in applying these skills to systematic reviews. We will also consider candidates with a high level of understanding and experience in systematic reviews if they have a strong computing background
   
Text: Senior Research Associate / Research Fellow in Evidence Synthesis Location: South West Contract Type: Open ended contract staff Expiration date: 15-Mar-2018 The University of Bristol is seeking a talented researcher to work at the interface of systematic reviews and computer science. We are recruiting a Senior Research Associate or Research Fellow, with the level of appointment depending on qualifications and experience. The post-holder will contribute to a programme of methodological work aimed at making systematic reviews more efficient, including development and/or evaluation of automated or semi-automated approaches to identifying, summarising, critiquing and synthesizing research studies in various topic areas. The post lies within the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Bristol Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), which aims to translate scientific discoveries to improve the health of NHS patients and the public. The post-holder will also work closely with members of the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol, with other staff and students at the University, and with external collaborators, and will work under the supervision of Professor Julian Higgins. Part of the role involves supporting systematic review work within the BRC. The successful candidate is likely to have a high level of understanding and experience in text mining/machine learning with a strong interest in applying these skills to systematic reviews. We will also consider candidates with a high level of understanding and experience in systematic reviews if they have a strong computing background.
