Duties: The Mathematician/Statistician is a key member of the Operational Intelligence (OI) team within the Financial Management Services (FMS) group. Under minimal supervision, this role will be tasked with gathering, preparing and analyzing a wide variety of data in order to facilitate business decision making. This analyst must creatively apply diverse data analysis techniques in order to find business insight in a data set and communicate those findings clearly to clients. Additionally, the analyst will leverage reporting tools to construct user-friendly interactive dashboards. Requirements: Bachelor degree in statistics, mathematics, information systems, or related field and four years’ extensive experience or combination of education and relevant technical field experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches. Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources. Extensive experience in and strong passion for empirical research and answering hard questions with data. Demonstrated experience querying, processing, analyzing, and reporting on large data sets. Under minimal supervision, this role will be tasked with gathering, preparing and analyzing a wide variety of data in order to facilitate business decision making. This analyst must creatively apply diverse data analysis techniques in order to find business insight in a data set and communicate those findings clearly to clients. Additionally, the analyst will leverage reporting tools to construct user-friendly interactive dashboards. This position will provide the opportunity to become familiar with a broad set of data, business processes, as well as data manipulation and visualization technologies. JOB PURPOSE: Interprets, monitors, and analyzes information regarding policies, procedures, demographics, and operational outcomes yielding actionable information to guide decisions in wide-ranging areas. Provides related consultative services. This level performs under minimal supervision includes both routine and challenging assignments; this is differentiated from Level 2 based on the smaller impact and visibility of findings involved (e.g.: an academic program might be changed; explore the use of staggered work hours and work from home options as a means of decreasing in and out bound traffic to the campus during peak hours).
