Requirements: A degree in science, engineering, mathematics or fields with a solid foundation in statistics or analytics. Expertise in using Python and/or R for data analysis. Experience with machine learning and data mining algorithms. Have developed creative approaches to analysis and data exploration. Understanding of Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark). Broad interest in scientific research and in the research process. Willing to acquire new skills and come up with new approaches. Have used tools to process large scale, sparse datasets is a plus (e.g. Spark, Hadoop). Contributed to open source projects. Experience with other languages (e.g. Java, Scala, Angular2)

Conditions of employment 38 hours per week. The position is initially offered for one year, subject to evaluation and funding, the position is eligible for extension. Salary is competitive, and will be set in scale 9, depending on qualifications and work experience of the collective labour agreement of the Dutch Universities (expected minimum € 2.709,-) for a full-time job (38 hours/week). On top of this, there is an 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance.
