Duties: The purpose of this role is to ensure that appropriate IT services are maintained and delivered successfully to the Biosciences Division’s staff, student and honorary contract holders. In addition to the management of a small support team, the post holder will provide hands-on and expert guidance in the support of Linux/Research computing and other aspects of the teams work such as computer desktops, servers, mobile devices, printers and specialist equipment. The post holder will be expected to engage effectively with researchers to facilitate their support requirements, liaising with colleagues across UCL to deliver timely solutions
Requirements: Applicants should have a degree or significant experience in an IT service delivery role – ideally in an academic environment – together with a customer focused approach. The ability to lead both day to day support operations as well as the Biosciences Division’s program of IT change improvements and innovations is key, as is a strong technical background. Linux expertise is essential: other relevant technologies include client devices (eg. Pcs, Macs and Linux), associated peripherals and High Performance Computing. The successful candidate should have a strong customer focus and management skills

The purpose of this role is to ensure that appropriate IT services are maintained and delivered successfully to the Biosciences Division?s staff, student and honorary contract holders. Within ISD, IT for SLMS supports and enhances research, teaching and associated administrative processes across the 4 Faculties of Population Heath Sciences, Medical Sciences, Life Sciences and Brain Sciences.
