EEO Equal opportunity employer/Disability/Vet/GLBT What Your Job Will Be Like The Reacting Flow Research Department at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA, seeks a postdoctoral researcher who has a strong background in high-fidelity direct numerical simulation of combustion and distributed computing on heterogeneous many-core architectures with deep memory hierarchies and accelerators. The position is focused in the near-term on performing DNS of multi-injection diesel combustion and high-altitude relight including spray vaporization effects on mixture preparation. On any given day, you may be called on to: Utilize a strong background in massively parallel DNS of turbulent multi-phase reactive flows and expertise with chemical kinetics; Work effectively as part of research team of computational fluids/combustion engineers, computer scientists and applied mathematicians, developing both an in-house compressible DNS code, S3D-Legion, and a new suite of adaptive mesh refinement codes, PeleC and PeleLM, that are designed to perform well on leadership-class petascale supercomputers; Perform research that will result in impactful publications in major scientific journals and widespread recognition within the international scientific research community, as well as relevant contributions to the energy and high-performance computing missions of the U.S. Department of Energy.
