Position: Postdoc in Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships (QSARs)

Duties: The successful applicant will become part of the Research Group for Molecular and Reproductive Toxicology in the Division of Diet, Disease Prevention & Toxicology (DTU Food). The applicant will work closely with two QSAR experts within the group. The QSAR team is engaged in research and counseling, and has a long collaboration with for instance the Danish Environmental Protection Agency concerning application of QSAR predictions in chemical assessments. The QSAR team is currently contributing to three new EU projects, in which the successful applicant will be engaged
Requirements: Hold a PhD degree within computational toxicology (QSAR), toxicology, pharmacy, chemistry, biology or another relevant scientific area and have a strong interest in QSAR research. Have strong communication skills and interest in professional writing and presentation (in English). Have skills for database handling and IT on a user level

Apply online DTU Food at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a postdoc position in QSAR modeling and application, initially for 12 months fixed-term. QSAR (quantitative structure-activity relationship) models are used to predict properties, hereunder toxicity, of chemical substances. QSAR models are increasingly used to screen, prioritize and assess thousands of chemicals that humans and the environment are exposed to. DTU Food has developed and maintains a free online (Q)SAR predictions database (http://qsar.food.dtu.dk/), with model predictions from more than 200 models for over 650,000 organic chemical substances. The database includes predictions from both commercial and in-house developed models, covering a broad range of properties and effects. Responsibilities and tasks The successful applicant will become part of the Research Group for Molecular and Reproductive Toxicology in the Division of Diet, Disease Prevention & Toxicology (DTU Food). The applicant will work closely with two QSAR experts within the group. The QSAR team is engaged in research and counseling, and has a long collaboration with for instance the Danish Environmental Protection Agency concerning application of QSAR predictions in chemical assessments. The QSAR team is currently contributing to three new EU projects, in which the successful applicant will be engaged. Specific tasks include development of new QSAR models for molecular endpoints of importance for human health effects, as well as publication of results in scientific journals. Other important tasks include arranging scientific meetings and/or workshop(s), as well as ’contributing to advisory work for regulatory use of QSAR predictions. Qualifications Candidates must: Hold a PhD degree within computational toxicology (QSAR), toxicology, pharmacy, chemistry, biology or another relevant scientific area and have a strong interest in QSAR research Have strong communication skills and interest in professional writing and presentation (in English) Have skills for database handling and IT on a user level Further desired qualifications: Having a systematic approach to work tasks and being able to handle multiple tasks in parallel Good ability to generate new ideas and bring them to life Interest in putting QSAR research results into chemical assessment applications We offer DTU is a leading technical university globally recognized for the excellence of its research, education, innovation and scientific advice.
