Position: KTP Associate Brewery Quality Specialist

Duties: Develop research objectives and proposals for the project with the assistance of the supervisory team. Conduct individual and collaborative research projects, making use of relevant research techniques and methods. Disseminate results of research through internal reports, peer reviewed journals and conferences, and/or other appropriate media. Continue to update personal knowledge and to develop skills within own specialist research area. Maintain written records of research results and progress generated intellectual property and data analysis. Contribute to the production of research reports and publications. Write technical reports and publications
Requirements: Possess and maintain sufficient breadth or depth of specialist discipline knowledge and or research methods and techniques to work in own area. Applicants should hold an MSc (or higher level qualification) in brewing or food science or related subject. Must have proven technical ability and a ‘hands on’ attitude to problem solving. Strong theoretical understanding of brewing and of assessment methods for beer quality. Ability to articulate research work, both in technical reports/papers and by oral presentation. Ability to formulate and progress work on their own initiative. Evidence of research ability: problem solving, flexibility. Must be able to work as part of a team on the project at St Andrews Brewing Company Ltd, Heriot-Watt and more widely with any potential collaborators at other Universities or companies
