Position: Laboratory Animal technician on project

Duties: Provide husbandry, health care and research support for laboratory germ-free and gnotobiotic mice by ensuring the respect of national and European standards and directives in place. Perform a variety of technical procedures on laboratory animals and maintain experimental data. Assist laboratory scientists during animal surgeries and experiments. Apply medical treatments and assist research and veterinary staff as instructed. Perform mouse transgenesis procedures and surgeries (anesthesia, embryo-isolation and transfer). Database administration, archiving of mouse strains and animal census
Requirements: Understand, respect and adhere to the Règlement grand-ducal adopted in 2013 in line with the European Directive for the use of animals in scientific research. Successfully completed training as biology laboratory technician. Experience in mouse handling (FELASA qualification or equivalent). Knowledge in basic molecular techniques. Exercise patience, accuracy, attention to detail and fine eye-hand coordination. Careful, reliable, independent and self-reliant way of working. Team player with good communication competencies. Standard computer skills. Very good knowledge in French and good English language skills

The University of Luxembourg has the following vacancy in the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB): Laboratory Animal Technician on project (m/f) Fixed-term contract (CDD) for 2 year Full-time (40h/week) Start date: 1st April 201 Ref. : 50014115 You will join the team of the rodent facility and support during the project period to research activities in the area of colorectal cancer and Parkinson disease. The aim of this project will focus on the study of gnotobiobic mouse models and on how identifying how the microbiome affects the initiation and progression of these diseases.
