Duties: SBCS is seeking to appoint a Research Services Manager, who will be responsible for the management of the administrative services supporting research within the School. Working closely with the Director of Research, the post holder will manage the School’s research programme; including having key input and responsibility for the delivery of the School’s research strategy
Requirements: Senior management experience in research-based and/or higher education; with a level of individual responsibility, authority, accountability and discretion to make and implement decisions. Experience of working with and advising and influencing senior management in devising research policy and supporting and assuring policy-making processes. Experience of managing and controlling budgets and financial management relating to research grants. Experience of developing innovative solutions and contributing to strategic planning, with proven ability to analyse and utilise complex strategic and operational data and performance indicators. Experience of managing a team, with an ability to provide good leadership

Working closely with the Director of Research, the post holder will manage the School’s research programme; including having key input and responsibility for the delivery of the School’s research strategy. The post-holder The post-holder will lead not only on the day to day but the longer term operational and budgetary planning and management of research funding in the school; including financial reporting and the management of bids, proposals and post-award spend. The successful candidate will oversee the management and support of the PhD and postgraduate activities in the School. Applicants should have demonstrable experience of research management in an academic environment with: Senior management experience in research-based and/or higher education; with a level of individual responsibility, authority, accountability and discretion to make and implement decisions Experience of working with and advising and influencing senior management in devising research policy and supporting and assuring policy-making processes Experience of managing and controlling budgets and financial management relating to research grants Experience of developing innovative solutions and contributing to strategic planning, with proven ability to analyse and utilise complex strategic and operational data and performance indicators Experience of managing a team, with an ability to provide good leadership This is a full time and permanent post. The salary will be in the range £46,489 - £51,899, per annum and is inclusive of London Allowance. Salary will be according to qualifications, skills and experience. Benefits include 30 days annual leave and a pension scheme. The successful applicant should be able to take up the position by mid-April or as soon as possible thereafter. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
