Position: Systems Administrator

Duties: The Systems Administrator (Learning & Teaching) is primarily responsible for management of Moodle, Mahara and underlying learning & teaching applications. He/She will also be responsible of maintaining RedHat, Ubuntu and Windows Server environment running on virtualised environment. He/She will engage in procuring software and licenses for educational use, deployment of such software, preparation of documentation’s and user manuals. Will also provide support of all existing software used in classroom environment. Will contribute towards IT enhancement projects in areas of learning & teaching
Requirements: A Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Systems with 4 year experience or a Diploma in IT/IS or Applied Computing with 6 years of experience in similar role. Must have a thorough knowledge of the Windows/Linux operating systems concepts, Domains, Active Directory and its concepts, and the interaction between hardware, operating systems, network and application software. Strong ability to communicate well in English, orally and in writing. Ability to operate in a fast paced, evolving environment and appropriately prioritize tasks and keep abreast of the latest technology

Person Specification Essential A Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Systems with 4 year experience or a Diploma in IT/ IS or Applied Computing with 6 years of experience in similar role. Must have a thorough knowledge of the Windows/Linux operating systems concepts, Domains, Active Directory and its concepts, and the interaction between hardware, operating systems, network and application software. Desirable Have Microsoft Certified System Administrator certifications in Windows 2008 or Windows 2012 or working towards of completion. Some knowledge of PHP and MySQL is desirable. Knowledge of VMware would be an added advantage. Prior experience with application integration via web services. Knowledge and Experience in any scripting language. Prior experience with Oracle/ MS SQL and MySQL.
