The incumbent will also troubleshoot problems of both nano and regular flow HPLC chromatography as well as perform basic instrument maintenance
PhD in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field (preferably with proteomic experience/background) or equivalent experience. Demonstrated significant experience in proteomic mass spectrometry. Strong knowledge of proteomic sample preparation and purification/enrichment techniques. Expertise with structural elucidation directly from MS spectra. Demonstrated experience with LC/MS applications and interpretation. Experience with standard database search algorithms and data analysis tools such as MASCOT, Proteome Discoverer, Skyline, and MaxQuant. Experience in training scientists and graduate researchers in the general field of chemistry or protein chemistry. Effective communication skills, combined with excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of external and internal clients. Demonstrated ability to work closely with Bio21 Institute academic and industry mass spectrometry leaders. Proficiency in handling large-data-sets including basic bioinformatics and biostatistics skills. Strong analytical background in qualitative and quantitative assay development and assay evaluation for proteomics applications

The incumbent will also troubleshoot problems of both nano and regular flow HPLC chromatography as well as perform basic instrument maintenance. The incumbent will have the skills required for informatics solutions to manage, display and search proteomics datasets eg MaxQuant, Skyline, PD, Dynamix. The unique differentiating approach of the Bio21 Mass Spectrometry Proteomics facility is to teach our users how to perform their own proteomic experiments and data analysis.
