Position: Clinical Trial Monitor

Duties: As Clinical Trial Monitor, you will conduct on-site monitoring visits to hospitals and medical facilities in the UK and assist with the remote monitoring of sites. You will work on the EMPA-KIDNEY and ORION-4 studies, providing on-site training and mentoring to nurses, observing participant visits to ensure compliance, producing feedback and written reports. There will be opportunities to contribute to the on-going development of innovative monitoring methodology and to work on some of CTSU’s other studies
Requirements: Life sciences degree or a nurse with current UK NMC registration; Previous experience of working in clinical trials; Familiarity with clinical trial monitoring procedures; Good knowledge of the key regulations affecting clinical trials and an understanding of ICH-GCP; Proven aptitude for training; Self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and within a team to meet deadlines; Good organizational skills and the ability to manage own workload, prioritizing where necessary; A confident and influential approach, with an understanding of how to motivate others; Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of people (e.g. study participants, investigators and other medical staff, colleagues and other study-related personnel); A flexible approach to problem solving and the ability to show initiative; The ability to make independent, considered decisions and take responsibility for own actions; Good computer skills, including familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail; The capacity and flexibility to travel within the UK (with occasional overnight stays)

The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. The Clinical Trial Service Unit (CTSU) is a major international research institute within the NDPH, and is one of the worlds leading centres for research into chronic diseases, such as cancer and heart disease. As Clinical Trial Monitor, you will conduct on-site monitoring visits to hospitals and medical facilities in the UK and assist with the remote monitoring of sites. You will work on the EMPA-KIDNEY and ORION-4 studies, providing on-site training and mentoring to nurses, observing participant visits to ensure compliance, producing feedback and written reports. There will be opportunities to contribute to the on-going development of innovative monitoring methodology and to work on some of CTSUs other studies. To be considered for the Clinical Trial Monitor post, you will have previous experience working in clinical trials and be a nurse with a current UK NMC registration or have a life sciences degree. An understanding of ICH-GCP and a proven aptitude for training are also essential for this role, as are excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate others. Occasional travel within the UK will be required. The post is full-time (although part-time considered) and fixed-term for 24 months. The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 11 March 2019.
