Duties: The Enzymology & Metabolism and Environmental Cheminformatics Research Groups at LCSB are seeking a PhD Candidate to become part of the Microbiomes in One Health (MICROH) PhD training programme, on the topic of “Dark Matter, the Exposome and the Microbiome”. MICROH aims to study interactions within and between microbiomes relating to two major healthcare challenges of our time, i.e. the spread of antimicrobial resistance genes and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases. MICROH bridges microbiology and big data analytics in a structured doctoral training environment
Requirements: Master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, environmental sciences, toxicology or related fields. Willingness to work closely with other PhD candidates and cooperate actively in a larger team

Microbiomes in One Health (MICROH) is a competitive, interdisciplinary PhD training programme , supported by the PRIDE funding scheme of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR). Your Role The Enzymology & Metabolism and Environmental Cheminformatics Research Groups at LCSB are seeking a PhD Candidate to become part of the MICROH PhD training programme, on the topic of “ Dark Matter, the Exposome and the Microbiome ”. The PhD will be co-supervised by Drs. Carole Linster and Emma Schymanski, LCSB, in collaboration with other topic leaders in MICROH. For further information, please contact metabolomics.jobs@uni.lu Your Profile Master’s degree (MSc or equivalent) in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, environmental sciences, toxicology or related fields Willingness to work closely with other PhD candidates and cooperate actively in a larger team Experience with non-target high resolution mass spectrometry experiments will be advantageous Experience in cultivation experiments and working with model organisms will be a plus Fluency in English is essential, skills in German and/or French will be advantageous We offer Student and employee status (36 months studies programme, full-time (40h/week) as per university standards) with project funding available for up to 48 months Initial 14 months fixed-term contract, renewable depending on thesis progress evaluation.
