Duties: Applications are invited for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the Finance team of this large postgraduate Institute specialising in research and teaching in neurology and neuroscience. The post holder will provide management accounting and technical accounting assistance to the Finance Manager with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, monitoring of monthly management accounts, and detailed financial reports to monitor the financial aspects of all activities at the Institute
Requirements: Applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent, or have equivalent relevant experience, and be a fully qualified (CCAB) accountant. Experience of working in a finance role within a large and complex organisation, of working in the higher education sector or similar, and of delivering continuous improvement in both process and support, is essential. Excellent oral and written communication, budget management, and data analysis and reconciliation skills are also required, as are good inter-personal skills and the ability to apply judgement as appropriate to a given scenario and to work and deliver individually and within a team environment

The Finance team provides a comprehensive finance and accounting service to the Institute's Research Departments and Administrative sections. The Institute Finance team is supported by a central finance service, and has a key relationship with the School Finance team, who provide consolidated reporting of the Institute finances to the Dean of the Faculty of Brain Sciences. The post holder will provide management accounting and technical accounting assistance to the Finance Manager with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, monitoring of monthly management accounts, and detailed financial reports to monitor the financial aspects of all activities at the Institute. The post is available from February 2019.
