Position: Physicist - X-ray Optics

Duties: As a member of the project team you are responsible for the X-ray optics in the photon beam transport system which guides the intense X-ray pulses from the undulators to the experimental stations. This includes optical design, specifications, planning, procurement, installation and commissioning. You participate in X-ray optics related research and development projects and have the opportunity to pursue your own research projects in this area
Requirements: You have a PhD degree in physics or equivalent qualification. As a self-motivated person, you like to work in the field of applied research and advanced instrumentation development. You have a fundamental knowledge of optics and metrology of X-ray optical elements and you understand the physics of mirrors, diffraction gratings and crystals. Practical experience with synchrotron radiation and the management of complex scientific instrumentation projects are of advantage. Good communication skills in English are essential, German is beneficial
