Duties: The Research Assistant will support research studies based in the UCD CRC at St Vincent’s University Hospital, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and UCD Precision Medicine Core. This position will focus on the provision of somatic next generation sequencing testing for cancer patients as part of an initiative led by the Ireland East Hospital Group Cancer Academic Directorate. The successful candidate will liaise with clinicians, pathologists and bioinformaticians and perform the wet lab next generation sequencing experiments
Requirements: Honours Degree in Science or related discipline. Excellent laboratory skills. Excellent oral and written skills. Excellent IT skills. Ability to work under own initiative. Understanding of GCP and SOPs
   
Text: Research Assistant, UCD School of Medicine, Temporary, 24 months The Research Assistant will support research studies based in the UCD CRC at St Vincent?s University Hospital, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and UCD Precision Medicine Core. The UCD Clinical Research Centre (UCD CRC) is an academic-led, patient-focused facility for clinical translational research based at both the Mater Misericordiae and St Vincent's University Hospitals. It operates under a single integrated governance structure within the UCD School of Medicine. In addition to supporting a large portfolio of investigator- and industry-led clinical research projects, the UCD CRC is also a leader in the delivery of clinical research training. The UCD CRC is the focal point for engagement with industry (pharmaceutical companies, CRO's, regulatory authorities) and has growing national and international collaborations. This position will focus on the provision of somatic next generation sequencing testing for cancer patients as part of an initiative led by the Ireland East Hospital Group Cancer Academic Directorate. The successful candidate will liaise with clinicians, pathologists and bioinformaticians and perform the wet lab next generation sequencing experiments. The successful candidate will report to a joint team of supervisors including Prof Donal Brennan (UCD), Prof Brendan Loftus (UCD) and Prof Kieran Sheehan (SVUH/UCD). Fixed Salary: : ?21,891 - ?27,901 per annum. Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
