Duties: This is an exceptional opportunity to join our Advancement team at an exciting time in its development. As the Head of Donor Relations & Events you will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a programme of stewardship across LSE Advancement and the School. Leading a team of four, you will work within the new Alumni & Supporter Engagement function to effectively coordinate acknowledgement, recognition and reporting activities so that our donors’ experiences with LSE are of the highest quality
Requirements: Undergraduate degree or equivalent. Proven experience in fundraising and working with individuals and organisations, in a donor relations capacity. A proven ability to think strategically and plan for the medium and long term as well as on a day-to-day basis. Experience of thinking creatively and identifying ways of improving effectiveness. Excellent office IT skills including general Windows experience (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint) and experience of Customer Relationship Management database entry and interrogation. Experience of event management. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information in an appropriate manner and format. Excellent negotiation skills. A high level of discretion in dealing with personal records and confidential communication. Ability to deal with a wide range of stakeholders, including high level donors and their representatives, understanding their needs and motivations. Ability to produce, edit and oversee high-quality written work, ensuring accuracy, excellent presentation and attention to detail. Ability to draft stewardship proposals or similar, marketing brochures, personalised letters, reports, news articles and general correspondence in an office environment. Strong leadership skills and a collaborative management style. Team management experience, including coaching, mentoring and motivating staff in delivery of responsibilities. Ability to work closely with and contribute to/support the work of several teams within the office and around LSE. Self-motivation, ability to work proactively and on own initiative. Ability to resolve complex problems. Service Delivery Ability to set and deliver high service standards. Ability to develop policies and procedures to support business processes and consistency of communications materials. Ability to gather and analyse complex data and draw strategic conclusions. Ability to build and develop professional relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels. Diplomatic, persuasive and credible at a senior level, possessing the professional gravitas that will engender the respect of key stakeholders including the academic community. The ability to motivate and persuade others within the School with whom there are working relationships. Ability to organise own work and that of others in delivering multiple tasks and events, responding effectively to changing deadlines and conflicting priorities. Budget and financial management with the ability to work to agreed activity and financial targets. Flexibility to work outside normal working hours from time to time
