Position: Centre for Growth Coordinator

Duties: The Centre for Growth has a small team of 10-15 people and the Centre Coordinator is a key member of the team, providing essential coordination of the administrative support for the Centre, and administrative support to the Centre’s Directors. This includes managing the day-to-day finances, coordinating admin support for the delivery of programmes and enterprise activities such as preparing materials and making venue arrangements, dealing with enquiries from potential participants, supporting the processing of applications, and providing administrative support and diary management to both the Director and the Associate Director of the Centre
Requirements: Education to A level. Substantial experience of providing administrative support to a small team. Experience of working in a busy office environment. Experience of communicating effectively with a wide range of people in a business context. Proficient in standard Microsoft packages (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint). Ability and confidence in communicating effectively with team members, project partners, clients and other stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organisational skills coupled with the ability to prioritise and work in a self-directed manner. Excellent attention to detail. Professionalism, diplomacy, and excellent interpersonal skills. Willingness and availability to attend evening and breakfast events, and occasionally to travel to events elsewhere in the UK

The Centre for Growth has been running high profile and high impact support for SMEs since 2011 including the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme, the Aston Programme for Small Business Growth, and Pitchfest West Midlands. The Centre works with external funders and partners, for example delivering growth programmes in collaboration with other Small Business Charter holding business schools, and is a strategic partner in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Growth Hub. ERC, the national Enterprise Research Centre run jointly by Aston University and the University of Warwick, operates at Aston within the Centre for Growth. The Centre for Growth has a small team of 10-15 people and the Centre Coordinator is a key member of the team, providing essential coordination of the administrative support for the Centre, and administrative support to the Centre’s Directors. This includes managing the day-to-day finances, coordinating admin support for the delivery of programmes and enterprise activities such as preparing materials and making venue arrangements, dealing with enquiries from potential participants, supporting the processing of applications, and providing administrative support and diary management to both the Director and the Associate Director of the Centre. This requires frequent communication with internal colleagues and departments at Aston University as well as and external clients such as funders and SME leaders. The successful candidate will enjoy supporting a team to deliver a variety of activities in what is often a fast paced and busy environment. Previous experience of providing administrative support to a small team is essential, as is a flexible and collaborative approach, excellent organizational skills, the ability to be proactive with tasks such as diary management, and the skills to communicate effectively with a range of people in a business environment.
