Position: Lecturer - Cyber Security

Duties: The Lecturer in Cyber Security will contribute to the delivery of the School’s undergraduate cyber security awards specifically through research and in the delivery of computer security modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will be responsible for undertaking applied research, knowledge transfer and income generations activities, as well as effective, high quality teaching and scholarly activity. There may be a requirement to undertake teaching at City Campus in Newport in addition to Treforest Campus. Willingness to deliver content overseas is desirable
Requirements: PhD, or in final year of PhD study. Masters degree in an appropriate subject; or (If from a Professional Practice background) a good honours Degree and appropriate professional practice and/or membership. Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to undertake

The growth of the National Cyber Security Academy in Newport, and the Thales National Digital Exploitation Centre in Ebbw Vale are key strategic developments for the University, and there are also developments overseas. As part of this growth, we are developing our teaching team and research capacity, including the introduction of a significant number of PhD posts early in 2019, and the addition of two Lecturers in Cyber Security. Our excellent links with industry, government and law enforcement place us as one of the most dynamic and innovative departments in the field. Cyber Security sits within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science in the School of Computing and Mathematics. The School has a wide range of research interests, which this post is intended to enhance. The successful candidate will possess a range of skills necessary to complement and enhance scholarly activity within the School, and to assist its growing reputation both locally and internationally. With excellent communication skills and a commitment to high quality teaching, you will lecture on a range of undergraduate/postgraduate modules within the field of Cyber Security. You will be expected to contribute to research and consultancy and will be supported by the School as a member of the Information Security Research Group. This is an exciting opportunity to join a motivated and supportive team. This position is based at Treforest campus of the University of South Wales but will be expected to allocate time at City Campus in Newport. It is anticipated that there will be short periods of teaching overseas. Applications for those interested in job share may be considered.
