Position: Senior Originator - Weather & Commodities

Duties: Actively market and close structured transactions relating to the purchase and sale of weather and weather-/commodity risk management products and other related products in line with the strategy. Actively develop new client relationships in the assigned region. Continuously build deep industry and client relationships, manage third parties relationships, develop contacts and extract relevant market intelligence. Possess deep knowledge of energy markets in the assigned region and drive product development/innovation. Possess expert knowledge with respect to renewable energy
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in related field; Master’s degree preferred. 5+ years of related experience. In-depth knowledge of weather and energy markets and products. Knowledge of the energy industry. Strong technical and analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to establish, build and maintain relationships with internal & external clients. Ability to influence. High level of business acumen, including the ability to find creative solutions and deliver on client expectations and requirements. Inspiring team player who is used to work in interdisciplinary deal teams (sales, structuring, legal, …). Innovation capability - ability to think creatively and drive new solutions. Confident, engaging manner and strong negotiation skills. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Capacity to deal positively with ambiguity and conflict. Good business planning skills. Very good project management skills. Fluent in English and German; any additional language will be of benefit. Willingness to travel
   
Text: Senior Originator - Weather & Commodities The volatility of weather can have a big impact on a company’s profits. Worldwide, the recent past has shown that unfavourable weather conditions are tending to become more and more frequent. Operating from our offices in Zurich, Houston and Munich, Munich Re’s global Weather & Agriculture team offers solutions tailored to your weather risks and safeguard your profits against the whims of nature. The Global Weather & Commodity unit of Munich Re has a global mandate to develop, originate, structure and sell risk management solutions for corporate as well as insurance clients in multiple sectors. The main clients are energy companies, renewable project developers, financial institutions etc. As Senior Originator you will be responsible for actively marketing structured risk management products to targeted clients (new and current) in the assigned region and in line with the strategy. Lead the conceptualization, development and testing of new products and structures. Work closely with Structuring and Trading to develop pricing and customer proposals. Effectively interface with team for further development of risk management products. Develop ad hoc models and analysis when necessary. Monitor changes in energy markets which might impact current or proposed strategies.
