Duties: The post holder will work as a Clinical Trial Practitioner (CTP) on the PARADIGM (Plasma Analysis for Response Assessment and to DIrect the manaGement of Metastatic prostate cancer) trial, a prospective, observational, biomarker-focused cohort study in newly diagnosed polymetastatic prostate cancer patients starting long-term systemic therapy. The primary objective is to determine whether the detection of ptDNA after two cycles of abiraterone (with prednisone) or docetaxel (with or without prednisone) added after start of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is associated with a worse clinical outcome
Requirements: Applicants should have a high level of knowledge of biomedical sciences, experience of recruiting patients to clinical studies, experience with the collection and processing of biological samples within research setting and recent experience of working on clinical trials. Experience of phelbotomy and consenting patients to clinical studies would be advantageous
   
Text: Clinical Trial Practitioner (PARADIGM study), - Ref:1777078 Click here to go back to search results Apply Now UCL Department / Division Cancer Institute Specific unit / Sub department Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre Location of position London Grade 7 Hours Full Time (Job share considered) Salary (inclusive of London allowance) ?35,328 - ?42,701 per annum Duties and Responsibilities The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) is part of the Cancer Institute at University College London.The CTC is responsible for the development and conduct of clinical trials to evaluate new approaches to the treatment of cancer and is a National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) accredited cancer trials centre.The CTC undertakes phase I, II & III trials, some with biological endpoints. CTC staff collaborate with clinicians and research staff in the UK and abroad.We have a number of areas of specialisation; Lung, Haematology, Gynaecology, Gastrointestinal (GI) tract, Bone metastases, Head & neck, Sarcoma and Brain cancers.The CTC Director is Jonathan Ledermann, Professor of Medical Oncology at UCL.The majority of staff are funded on Cancer Research UK programme or project grants and there is some additional support in the form of educational grants from industry. The post holder will work as a Clinical Trial Practitioner (CTP) on the PARADIGM (Plasma Analysis for Response Assessment and to DIrect the manaGement of Metastatic prostate cancer) trial, a prospective, observational, biomarker-focused cohort study in newly diagnosed polymetastatic prostate cancer patients starting long-term systemic therapy. The primary objective is to determine whether the detection of ptDNA after two cycles of abiraterone (with prednisone) or docetaxel (with or without prednisone) added after start of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is associated with a worse clinical outcome. 170 men will be recruited over an 18 month period and will have blood collected at different timepoints throughout the trial. The trial will be conducted by the UCL Cancer Trials Centre with the Treatment Resistance team based in the UCL Cancer Institute. The postholder will liaise directly with hospital research staff and patients with advanced prostate cancer and will be trained on the management of this disease. This post is funded for 12 months in the first instance and the post holder should be able to start on the 1st March 2019. This post is a 1.0 FTE Clinical Trial Practioner or 2 part time posts (0.5 FTE) who will job share.
