Duties: UCL seek to appoint an experienced and dynamic person to lead our Research Applications team to support, drive and develop our suite of services supporting Researchers at UCL, which currently include (but is not limited to: Sympletic Elements; eprints; Worktribe; a number of in-house Java Spring and PHP applications
Requirements: You will be a strong communicator and relationship builder, able to establish high levels of credibility and maximum cooperation throughout the organisation and specifically in the applications that you lead on. You will have experience of a range of current best-practice tools and techniques for IT service management, application support and development, deployment and test automation, DevOps, and service resilience

Sympletic Elements ? eprints ? Worktribe ? a number of in-house Java Spring and PHP applications These services are critical to research activities at UCL and play a key role in activities such as the REF, which brings ?530 million into UCL each year to continue its research efforts. You will be part of a team working on the development, installation, configuration, interfaces, maintenance, upgrade, testing and operation of the services listed above, including 3rd line support and troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and liaising with suppliers. Responsibilities will include: ? working with customers to understand their needs ? coordinating, estimating effort required, and being hands-on with the activities required to meet customer requirements ? providing updates on progress to the team and customers at appropriate level and frequency ? leading on queue management and 2nd/3rd line support ? leading on upgrades and minor developments ? liaising with suppliers Key Requirements You will be a strong communicator and relationship builder, able to establish high levels of credibility and maximum cooperation throughout the organisation and specifically in the applications that you lead on.
