Position: Research Associate - Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC)

Duties: You will utilise your analytical skills to provide new insights into new and existing research and industry projects. Undertake principal student supervision. You will contribute to the management of the MIC research laboratories. You will use your in-depth knowledge of Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion to enable and deliver new scientific discoveries, leading to international publications. You will be widely respected for your collaborative qualities
Requirements: A PhD or progressing towards a doctoral qualification in chemical engineering, corrosion science, microbiology or relevant discipline to this position. Experience in corrosion and electrochemistry, microbiology and molecular biology, microscopy and surface science. Industry experience relevant to this position. An excellent research record of accomplishment, with the capacity to both lead and enable scientific publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals or journals relevant to corrosion. Demonstrated capacity in a range of qualitative and quantitative research tasks. Emerging research track record/potential to conduct quality research and contribute productively to research teams under supervision. Demonstrated high-level organisational skills. Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity. Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position

We are currently seeking a Research Associate, Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion to work closely with our established team, complementing their skills with your experience. The position will involve engaging with collaborators, industry partners both locally and internationally and developing funding proposals. This role may require some teaching activities and field trips to industry facilities.
