Duties: The Department of Computer Science is seeking to recruit two highly-qualified and experienced Senior Lecturers in Mathematics. One of the candidates will be required to lead the new BSc Mathematics course which commences September 2019. Candidates must be able to demonstrate evidence of successful undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Mathematics with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Applied mathematics; Statistics; Operations Research; Problem solving; Mathematical modelling and optimisation; Computational methods; Data structures and algorithms; Data science; Machine learning; Computer graphics/image processing
Requirements: The persons appointed will have an undergraduate degree and a PhD in Mathematics (or a related area) and will have postdoctoral experience. Candidates must have a track record of high quality peer-reviewed, international outputs

The persons appointed will have an undergraduate degree and a PhD in Mathematics (or a related area) and will have postdoctoral experience. The Department of Computer Science holds a framework agreement with CERN (https://home.cern/about), the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, which facilitates working together on world-leading research projects, including the development of specific technologies for the visualisation of scientific data in real time. The department has a number of opportunities for academic staff and PhD students to conduct research in this area, including mathematical modelling, optimisation, Machine Learning, visualisation, and data science. Experience in administration and a willingness to undertake administrative duties is also essential. The post-holders will have effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, be committed to the development of themselves and others and supportive of equal opportunities. They will be able to work as part of a team and interested in contributing to novel approaches to research and teaching.
