Position: Postdoctoral Researcher - Proteomics

Duties: The DDZ has the aim to develop novel approaches to prevention, early detection and diagnosis of Diabetes mellitus and to improve the therapy and care of Diabetes mellitus and its complications. We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with excellent skills, research track record and knowledge in comprehensive analysis of protein mass spectrometry data for a new study focused on modulating insulin action in skeletal muscle. Your tasks will encompass conducting research related to posttranslational protein modifications (e.g. phosphorylation, acetylation) in insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes using novel mouse models and human cell culture
Requirements: You hold a PhD degree in biochemistry, biology, or a related field. You are experienced in mouse experimentation and cell culture work. You have a strong background in computational analysis (e.g. R, Perseus) of large-scale data from global proteome profiling by mass-spectrometry. You are ambitious in developing and applying bio-informatics and statistical analysis to propel the project. An excellent written and spoken command of the English and German language is mandatory
   
Text: Post-doctoral Researcher Proteomics German Diabetes Center - Leibniz Institute for Diabetes Research at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (DDZ) Added on 02.11.2018 The German Diabetes Center (DDZ), Leibniz Institute for diabetes research at the Heinrich Heine University (HHU) Düsseldorf, as interdisciplinary research institute links molecular and cell biological basic research with clinical, epidemiological and health services related research approaches. The DDZ has the aim to develop novel approaches to prevention, early detection and diagnosis of Diabetes mellitus and to improve the therapy and care of Diabetes mellitus and its complications. The Institute for Clinical Biochemistry and Pathobiochemistry (Director: Prof. Dr. Hadi Al-Hasani) investigates the molecular mechanisms of onset and progression of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes using unique mouse models and is conducting molecular and cell biology studies of cultured insulin-responsive cells and tissues. For a new study focused on modulating insulin action in skeletal muscle we are looking for a highly motivated and talented Post-doctoral Researcher Proteomics with excellent skills, research track record and knowledge in comprehensive analysis of protein mass spectrometry data to join our international and collaborative team in an outstanding and competitive scientific environment. Your tasks will encompass conducting research related to posttranslational protein modifications (e.g. phosphorylation, acetylation) in insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes using novel mouse models and human cell culture Your profile You hold a PhD degree in biochemistry, biology, or a related field You are experienced in mouse experimentation and cell culture work You have a strong background in computational analysis (e.g. R, Perseus) of large-scale data from global proteome profiling by mass-spectrometry You are ambitious in developing and applying bio-informatics and statistical analysis to propel the project An excellent written and spoken command of the English and German language is mandatory Initially the position is to be awarded for 2 years. An extension of the contract period is envisaged. The employment contract is governed by TV-L in its current version for North Rhine-Westphalia including the special regulations regarding the scientific area. The salary is based on qualification and experience according to TV-L.
