Position: Postdoctoral Research Assistant - Computational Statistics

Duties: You will join the new Computational Statistical Inference for Engineering and Security (CoSInES) project, developing new theory and methodology within Statistical Science and Scalable Computational Statistics, with particular focus on applications within the exciting new areas of Data-Centric Engineering and Defence and Security. Your main duties and responsibilities will include undertaking innovative research as part of a team of researchers working towards the goals of the CoSInES project. The work will involve at least some of the following areas: Statistical Science, Computational Statistics, High-Performance Computing, Theory and Methodology of stochastic algorithms, Scalable methods, Data-Centric engineering, Defence and Security
Requirements: Applicants are sought who hold or are close to the completion of a PhD/DPhil in statistics or closely related discipline. The successful candidate will have experience of statistical programming in R/C or equivalent languages, a demonstrable ability to publish, including experience of producing high-quality academic writing and previous research experience relevant to the research programme
   
Text: Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Computational Statistics Department of Statistics, 24-29 St Giles, Oxford Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a. Applications are invited for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the new Computational Statistical Inference for Engineering and Security (CoSInES) project. This is a timely project developing new theory and methodology within Statistical Science and Scalable Computational Statistics, with particular focus on applications within the exciting new areas of Data-Centric Engineering and Defence and Security. This £3M programme is funded by the EPSRC, and brings together research groups from the Universities of Lancaster, Bristol, Oxford and Warwick. A major project partner will be the Turing, in particular its programmes on Data-Centric Engineering (DCE) and Defence and Security (D&S). Reporting to Professor Arnaud Doucet, this post is fixed-term for up to 4 years. The postholders main duties and responsibilities will include undertaking innovative research as part of a team of researchers working towards the goals of the CoSInES project. The work will involve at least some of the following areas: Statistical Science, Computational Statistics, High-Performance Computing, Theory and Methodology of stochastic algorithms, Scalable methods, Data-Centric engineering, Defence and Security. Other responsibilities include managing own academic research and administrative activities, including small scale project management.
