Apply online DTU Environmental Engineering Department invites applications for a position as Postdoc in a project “From Urban Bio-waste to Animal Feed”. The Postdoc will work with development of methods and technologies for upgrading source separated municipal bio-waste for the production of high-value products. The Section works in developing sustainable technologies within the bio-economy approach, both from fundamental research such as deciphering anaerobic microbiome to development of processes and collaboration with full-scale plants. Responsibilities and tasks The Postdoc will be responsible for executing a research project related with the production of single cell protein using solid, gaseous and liquid municipal waste streams. The research field of the position is in treating wastes for production of microbial proteins with biotechnological methods. Knowledge of anaerobic digestion of municipal bio-waste and biological upgrading of biogas is mandatory. The candidates are expected to have research experience in anaerobic digestion process. The Postdoc will be involved in national as well as international projects and is expected to participate in the development of new project proposals. Idea generation, fund raising, research impact and innovation are key performance indicators for the position. Moreover, the candidates should be able to work independently. As an integrated part of the job, the candidate is expected to contribute in teaching of relevant courses, as well as guidance and co-supervision of PhD, MSc and BSc students. Preparation of scientific publications and dissemination duties are expected. The candidates should have a goal-oriented approach and ability to work in large teams. You will collaborate with the other research groups at the department and mainly with researchers dealing with waste and wastewater treatment. You have the ability to motivate your colleagues to be their best and achieve ambitious goals. Contributing to the development of a good work atmosphere and a thriving environment is essential. Qualifications The candidate is expected to have: A PhD degree or equivalent on anaerobic digestion process. Strong knowledge of the microbiology and biochemistry of the anaerobic digestion process. Knowledge of biological biogas upgrading process. Previous experience in performing molecular biology analysis (i.e. High-throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing and analysis). Knowledge of lab- and pilot-scale anaerobic digesters operation.
