Duties: To conduct brain slice electrophysiology experiments. The successful applicant will work in a highly stimulating environment to pursue an exciting visionary cross-disciplinary European project aimed at repairing the epileptic brain by means of functional intelligent biohybrids
Requirements: Degree in Medicine or Biology and a PhD in Neuroscience, Biophysics, Physiology or related disciplines. At least 3 years hands-on experience with rodent brain slice electrophysiology and in vitro models of limbic ictogenesis. Reparation and maintenance of rodent brain slices for in vitro electrophysiology. Knowledge of the 4-aminopyridine and/or high potassium models applied to combined hippocampus-cortex slices. Microelectrode array and/or field potential recording techniques applied to rodent brain slices. Highly motivated, curious and goal-oriented. Creative thinking. Proactive mindset and independent thinking. Team-oriented collaborative attitute. Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and spoken English
   
Text: Post-doc position - Brain slice electrophysiology for biohybrid systems to heal epilepsy - [ Postdoc ] Workplace: Genova, IIT Added on: 07/11/2018 - Expires on: 15/12/2018 The Laboratory of Enhanced Regenerative Medicine invites applications for 1 post-doc position to conduct brain slice electrophysiology experiments. The successful applicant will work in a highly stimulating environment to pursue an exciting visionary cross-disciplinary European project aimed at repairing the epileptic brain by means of functional intelligent biohybrids. The research consortium gathers together experts in tissue/organoid bioengineering, in vitro and in vivo electrophysiology, neuromorphic engineering, machine learning and artificial intelligence. This is a high-risk/high-gain project, recently selected for funding within the EU funding scheme FET Proactive (Grant Agreement n°824164 - Acronym: HERMES). Applicants must have a degree in Medicine or Biology and a PhD in Neuroscience, Biophysics, Physiology or related disciplines, and at least 3 years hands-on experience with rodent brain slice electrophysiology and in vitro models of limbic ictogenesis .
