Text: Assistant or Associate Professor of Statistics Tracking Code F113 Job Description Position Title: Assistant or Associate Professor of Statistics Position Tracking Number: F113 School/College: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department: Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics Location: Azusa Campus Description: The Department of Mathematics and Physics invites applications for a faculty position in applied statistics/data analytics. The position involves teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, depending on interests and skills; preference will be given to those with ability to teach business analytics courses. The opportunity also exists to serve as program director for the newly developed M.S. in Applied Statistics and Analytics. Currently, the department has 11 full-time faculty members. In addition to the new master’s program, the department also has a new undergraduate minor in applied statistics and offers several general education courses including Introduction to Statistics. Position subject to final funding. Responsibilities: Teach courses, develop new courses and possibly direct programs in statistics or related fields, maintain an active research program involving students, mentor and advise students, and participate in department and university affairs. Engage in ongoing professional development (e.g., seminars and conferences) to stay current with cutting-edge methodologies. Level: Assistant or Associate Professor Qualifications : A Ph.D. in statistics or a related discipline OR an M.S. with substantial professional experience in statistics or business analytics Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence. An interest in helping students to integrate their faith and their studies. Experience: All candidates should have experience teaching statistics at the university level OR substantial professional experience in statistics or business analytics. Candidates interested in directing the master’s program should have demonstrated leadership experience. The ideal candidate will have an active research program, relevant experience which could lead to establishing industry, government or health care organization partners, and/or experience in successful academic program development. Workload: Full-time preferred, but part-time options are available Mental Demands: Ability to integrate Christian values in all aspects (teaching, research, and mentoring). Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information.
