Position: Senior Research Analyst

Duties: This position is responsible for conducting advanced analyses and support of the National Study Center and programs to promote a culture of assessment and evidence based decision making. The Senior Research Analyst will compile and interpret research data according; establish and maintain databases, develop quality assurance; and provide final interpretations to others. Independently conducts research assignments that include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements, etc
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Social Science, Public Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, Health Science or Services or in a field of study related to the research. Two (2) years related experience in a research environment. A unique combination of education and experience may be considered: Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with at least 18 credits in a field related to the research of the clinic or laboratory, as appropriate, or Bachelor’s degree in unrelated field with at least one year of experience in a field directly related to the research of the clinic or laboratory, as appropriate. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. May require training related to occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials and/or ionizing radiation. Possesses a knowledge of position requirements and able to perform position in compliance with all requirements/regulations/laws. Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory. Knowledge of design of research studies and preparation of technical procedures and reports. Ability to maintain high standards with the work being performed and maintain awareness with trends and influences. Ability to provide theoretical, conceptual and writing support on research analysis and findings. Skill in statistical programming, interpretation and data analysis using statistical software as well as spreadsheet and database software applications. Ability to mentor and guide other personnel. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments. Skill in statistical interpretation and data analysis using statistical software as well as spreadsheet and database software applications. Text: The Center for Shock, Trauma and Anesthesiology Research, Organized Research Center (STAR-ORC) and t he National Study Center (NSC) is seeking a Senior Research Analyst . This position is responsible for conducting advanced analyses and support of the National Study Center and programs to promote a culture of assessment and evidence based decision making. The Senior Research Analyst will compile and interpret research data according; establish and maintain databases, develop quality assurance; and provide final interpretations to others. Independently conducts research assignments that include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements. The Senior Research Analyst is recognized as a subject matter expert and completes the highly complex work critical to the National Study Center. Assignments and projects are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity, and has appreciable latitude for un-reviewed action or decision. The National Study Center for Trauma and Emergency Medical Systems is part of the Shock, Trauma and Anesthesiology Research (STAR) organized research center at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine. Dedicated to improving the delivery of trauma care and emergency medical services, the NSC mission is to prevent death and disability caused by injury and sudden illness. Develop effective methods of data collection and assessment. Develops methods and tools to ensure validity and accuracy of data and compliance with quality control requirements. Establish and maintain database files, perform required data extraction through programming and reports on progress of programs, studies, and/or projects. Duties include performing and supervising data collection. May receive, inventory, enter, organize, and verify validity of any collected data. Perform sophisticated data searches and exchanges among micro, mini, and mainframe-based statistical software applications to generate standard and customized reports using statistical applications. Demonstrates expertise in statistical applications such as SAS, SQL, Oracle and Excel. Acts as lead to summarize and prepare manuscripts, presentations, and proposals by providing and presenting statistical information as tables, charts, or graphs. Reviews work of support staff and determines how analysis will be presented. Communicate with providers regularly as part of the most complex data collection, analysis, and reporting process. Provides guidance, training, and mentoring to less experience personnel in qualitative and quantitative analysis. Performs other related duties as assigned.
