Requirements: The candidate should possess a PhD degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or Applied Mathematics. The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and experience in a number of the following topics: Caching and Machine learning for communications Cross-layer design, Resource allocation, Load balancing Optimization theory, Queueing theory Network slicing, Graph embedding NFV, SDN, MEC paradigms Development skills in MATLAB or C++ are required. Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required

The Centre is rapidly expanding its research activities and is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate (with PhD degree) who wish to pursue research in 5G Networks and beyond. Research Associate Position in Edge Caching for 5G Networks and beyond Ref: 50013805 -(R-AGR-3415-10-C) Fixed Term Contract 2 years (CDD), full-time 40 hrs/week Number of positions : 1 Employee status Your Role Future wireless networks will have to address stringent requirements of delivering content at high speed and low latency due to the proliferation of mobile devices and data-hungry applications. Various network architectures, e.g., cloud radio access networks and heterogeneous networks, have been proposed in order to boost the network throughput and reduce transmission latency, even though traffic congestion might occur during peak hours due to a significant unbalance in content request distribution. An effective solution to reduce latency and costs of content delivery is to bring the content closer to end users via distributed storages at edge nodes, which is known as caching . However, in order to reap full benefit of caching in the 5G context, it requires designing novel proactive caching algorithms to deal with dynamic network topology and content preference. The successful candidate will join a strong and motivated research team lead by Prof. Björn Ottersten in order to carry out research in the following topics: Context-aware, learning-based content popularity estimation Proactive cache placement and delivery Cross layer design and optimization of content delivery systems The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks: Carrying out research in the predefined areas Disseminating results through scientific publications Participating in proposal drafting Working with PhD and Master students Assisting in organization of relevant workshops For further information, please contact us at Thang.Vu@uni.lu or Symeon.Chatzinotas@uni.lu Your Profile The candidate should possess a PhD degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or Applied Mathematics.
