Position: Fermentation Staff Scientist

Duties: As an automated fermentation specialist in the lab you will primarily execute adaptive laboratory evolution experiments by running and maintaining the custom fermentation platform. The position will be responsible for daily monitoring and maintenance of the continual fermentation experiments using robotics located on-site at the Center for Biosustainability. The position includes media preparation, routine sampling of cultures, data analysis using on-line monitoring systems, and input into advancement and development of the technology
Requirements: Candidates must be trained in fermentation and software control systems and have a previous experience working in microbial fermentation labs (with activities involving Class 1 GMOs). The candidate must have experience in: Independently running microbial fermentations in different configurations. Control system interfaces and data analysis/export. Basic bioinformatics skills dealing with sequencing data. Preparing microbiological media, buffers and other solutions. Sterilization of growth media and solutions as well as laboratory glassware

Apply online The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CFB) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is seeking an automated fermentation specialist to join the Adaptive Laboratory Evolution team. The CFB is an expanding research center that focuses on the use of advanced metabolic engineering techniques and synthetic biology tools for developing the next generation of cell factories. The Adaptive Laboratory Evolution Group is exploiting a novel technology for the sustainable production of value chemicals. Responsibilities and tasks As an automated fermentation specialist in the lab you will primarily execute adaptive laboratory evolution experiments by running and maintaining the custom fermentation platform. The position will be responsible for daily monitoring and maintenance of the continual fermentation experiments using robotics located on-site at the Center for Biosustainability. The position includes media preparation, routine sampling of cultures, data analysis using on-line monitoring systems, and input into advancement and development of the technology. The position will work independently running multiple experiments simultaneously while receiving support for molecular biology and automation aspects of the project. As a specialist at the CFB you will in part also participate in performing common tasks shared among other laboratory technicians. Qualifications Candidates must be trained in fermentation and software control systems and have a previous experience working in microbial fermentation labs (with activities involving Class 1 GMOs).
