Duties: The appointed Postdoctoral Research Fellow will test, evaluate and give feedback on existing and new innovations of either double chain ladder and its extension or “in-sample forecasting” which are research based methods that appear in a number of publications in leading journals of actuarial science and mathematical statistics, as needed for our commercial work with Matrix and other commercial parties. The post-doctoral researcher will support Professor Nielsen with his efforts to deliver the commercial impact of this research
Requirements: The successful candidate will have completed a recent, quantitative-focused PhD with experience of statistical methods and elementary machine learning. They will also have experience with visualisation and testing statistical methods and have a strong background in computing. They will have the ability to work closely with colleagues and clients in the industry and communicate effectively. The post-holder will be required to work according to his or her initiative and to plan and manage workload with minimal supervision, this may involve working remotely
