Position: Instructional Associate

Duties: Assists with student support programs including tutoring students; may provide feedback to faculty or instructors regarding student progress. Works on special academic projects. Assists with and attends outreach events and departmental projects as needed. May conduct workshops on professional development topics or subjects for faculty or instructors to enhance their classroom teaching. May plan and organize learning strategies, activities, and aids to serve individual student needs; may work with faculty or instructors to implement those strategies, activities or aids. May assist students in a Learning Lab if related to the discipline; may oversee projects or productions involving activities related to the discipline
Requirements: Experience using standard office software programs and the technology needed to support learning at the college is required. To be hired in this position, the candidate must be an adjunct faculty member who is currently teaching or has taught a course within the prior 12 months for Austin Community College. Selection as an Instructional Associate does not affect priority status in staffing for upcoming courses.  The instructional department is solely responsible for determination of priority in e-staffing. Prior experience using discipline-related instructional technology. Ability to maintain an established schedule which may include evenings and weekends and multiple campus locations. Effective planning, organization, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of work and student-related information. Understanding of the principles and practices associated with Servant-Leadership. Ability to handle sensitive issues relating to a diverse student body. Ability to effectively assist and assess student learning. Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds. Proficiency using computer applications, classroom or other current learning technologies for effective teaching. Effective teaching techniques adaptable to a variety of learning styles with an understanding of the comprehensive philosophy of community colleges.
