Duties: We seek a postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the Strategic Human Data sub-project of the EU-funded Human Brain Project (HBP).The objective of the project is to develop a generative modelling framework capable of jointly modelling a variety of 3D brain images, including modalities acquired in vivo (structural MRI, fMRI, etc) or post mortem (histology sections, etc), some of them along with a small number of manually drawn cytoarchitectonic label maps.The aim is to train the framework in a semi-supervised manner and thus benefit from both unlabelled and labelled image sets
Requirements: Applicants must have a PhD in a field such as computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, statistics or related field involving numerical computing, and experience of probabilistic machine learning. Excellent software engineering skills, with experience of C/C++ and a higher level language (eg, Matlab, Python, Julia), excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in data analysis, and good inter-personal skills are also required. Experience of collaborative software development is desirable

The post holder will develop new algorithms that enable a multi-modal neuroimaging integration framework. Duties include software design, development, implementation and testing, reading and writing reports and documentation for the EU, and actively collaborating with others in the HBP. The post is available immediately and is funded by a grant from the EU for the period to March 2020 in the first instance.
