Text: Engineer/Computer Scientist for High-Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence in Earth Observation 25.10.2018, Wissenschaftliches Personal The Professorship for Signal Processing in Earth Observation, a joint venture of TUM and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) looks for a full-time engineer/computer scientist for high-performance computing and artificial intelligence in Earth observation. About us The TUM-Professorship for Signal Processing in Earth Observation develops innovative methods for information extraction from remote sensing data in close cooperation with the Department EO Data Science of the Remote Sensing Technology Institute of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). For this international, exciting, and cutting-edge environment, in the framework of the ERC project „So2Sat“, we are looking for an engineer or computer scientist for high-performance computing, big data management, and artificial intelligence in Earth observation. Tasks Your duties will be comprised of: • developing automated workflows for big Earth observation data processing • developing AI methods for Earth observation problems • acting as the connecting link to the HPC/big data services of Leibniz Rechenzentrum (LRZ) Requirements Promising applicants have a sound academic education in computer science. Since the Professorship is established as a joint venture between TUM and DLR, it offers the attractive combination of university-style fundamental research directly linked to practically relevant major projects and pioneering satellite missions. Depending on the applicant‘s profile and qualifications, the salary of the position will follow the TV-L pay scale up to E14 (i.e. between about 45 k€ and 70 k€ annually before taxes).
