Working knowledge and experience building data dashboards and visualizations using Tableau or similar software. Ability to collect, analyze, interpret and disseminate information (quantitative and qualitative) in a clear and concise way for a wide reaching audience. No.: 154324 Share Job Description: FULL-TIME DATA ANALYST: Institutional Research and Planning; 37.5 hours per week; Non-Unit Professional Reports to : Dean of Strategic Planning, Institutional Research and Information Technology Anticipated Start Date: October 2018 RESPONSIBILITIES: The Institutional Research and Planning department supports the mission of the college by using long-term and real-time institutional data for decision-making, policy development and improving institutional practices and procedures. In addition, we lead, facilitate and support the college's strategic planning and execution process. Job Description : The Data Analyst provides data, analysis, and visualizations to support the execution of strategic goals, to inform decision-making, student success initiatives, academic program review and assessment. R esponsibilities include, but are not limited to: Collects, extracts, and manipulates data from various sources. Conducts strategic data analysis and identifies insights and implications from the data. Develops and maintains Tableau visualizations that effectively communicate information derived from available data to provide a broad range of campus leaders, faculty, and staff with clear, usable, and actionable information. In collaboration with other members of the team develops and facilitates dialogues, one-on-one and in groups, about insights from the data and serves as a resource to the college community in discussions about data. Develops, reviews, coordinates, administers, analyzes and reports institutional survey research. Designs and conducts focus groups or other qualitative research methods. Supports the development and maintenance of the student data warehouse. Contributes to the creation of regular internal reports that track various aspects of institutional programs and student performance, including but not limited to reports on student enrollment, grades, and credit hours, as well as reports focused on particular programs and services offered by the college. Responds to internal requests for data needed for operational purposes from faculty and staff. Represents Institutional Research and Planning as a member of committees (such as Strategic Planning Steering Committee) and generally in the college community. Supports the work of the Dean of Strategic Planning, Institutional Research and Information Technology as requested. Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as social science, information technology, business, mathematics, statistics with coursework in research methods and statistics. 1-3 years' experience in institutional research, data analysis, or a related field. Commitment to excellent customer service. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree. Knowledge of how to design and conduct focus groups or other qualitative research methods. Knowledge or experience in web page development and maintenance in Wordpress or similar software. Familiarity with qualitative research software such as Nvivo. Knowledge or experience with SQL, and medium to high level programming to build complex queries and reports. Knowledge or experience with an institutional ERP such as Banner.
