Real-Time Big Data Analytics Developer Nuffield Department of Population Health, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford Grade 8: £39,992 - £47,722 p.a. (pro rata for part-time) The Oxford University Big Data Institute (BDI) is a new interdisciplinary research centre aiming to develop, evaluate and deploy efficient methods for acquiring and analysing biomedical data at scale and for exploiting the opportunities arising from such studies. The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH), a key partner in the BDI, contains world-renowned population health research groups and is an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary teaching and research. Based in the Digital Phenotyping Group within the BDI, you will create open source infrastructure to underpin national and international collection, feature extraction, analysis, and visualisation of real-time high-frequency data streams from Wearables and Apps. Youll take source data (often protobuf) and using Apache technologies such as Spark, Storm, Kafka, and Druid, connect them to micro-services using frameworks like Dash. Youll also develop scalable pipelines to process a variety of novel data streams, using methods which include Machine Learning, and working on analyses both independently and in collaboration with the rest of the team. To be considered, you will have a BSc or MSc in computer science, maths, physics, engineering, or an equivalent field, significant experience of software engineering, having built and maintained projects of significant size and the ability to solve complex problems using elegant code.
