Text: Senior Medical Statistician Nuffield Department of Population Health, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford Grade 8: £39,992 - £47,722 p.a. (pro rata for part-time) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly-motivated and experienced postdoctoral Senior Medical Statistician to join a research group focussing on the aetiology of cardiovascular diseases and diseases of old age using the UK and China Kadoorie biobank studies with genetic data and linkage to electronic health data. The very large-scale data that are emerging provide the opportunity for many exciting and extensive investigations requiring well-structured data manipulation and statistical programming to yield their full potential. We are seeking to recruit a Senior Medical Statistician with a sound understanding of a range of statistical techniques and excellent programming skills. The post will involve researching and implementing statistical analyses, planning data synthesis, interpreting the implications for population health and providing technical training and leadership to students and early career team members. You will have a good higher degree (PhD or MSc and considerable additional relevant experience) in statistics, mathematics (or closely related subject), a demonstrated record in statistical programming and analysis (for example in SAS, R) and be competent to develop your skills further and share them. The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world-renowned population health research groups. This post, based in the Big Data Institute, provides an excellent opportunity for training and development of expertise in medical statistics and statistical programming within a leading multi-disciplinary academic unit with an unrivalled reputation for promoting the use of big data to reliably identify findings important to population health. An appointment at Grade 7 (£31,604 £38,833 p.a.) may be considered for an ambitious candidate with potential but less experience with an appropriate adjustment in responsibilities. The post is full-time (part-time considered) and is fixed-term for 3 years in the first instance. The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 10 October 2018.
