TOUR OF DUTY: Varies SUPERVISES: Nursing Students Summary Demonstrate and teach patient care in classroom and clinical units to nursing students. Includes both teachers primarily engaged in teaching and those who do a combination of both teaching and research. Responsibilities/Duties Evaluates & grades students’ class work, laboratory and clinic work, assignments, and papers. Prepare and deliver lectures to students on topics such as pharmacology, mental health nursing, community health care practices, medical-surgical, and maternal child. Advise students on academic curricula, and on career issues. Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others. Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments. Demonstrate patient care in clinical units of hospitals. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. Keep abreast of developments in their field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences. Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts. Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory equipment. Supervise students’ laboratory and clinical work. Education Must possess a current SD nursing license. Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Master’s Degree Preferred.
