California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success. Position is contingent on funding. Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related areas. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the the doctorate must be complete prior to the beginning of the academic year (August, 2018). Expertise in a field within computer and electrical engineering is required, as demonstrated through a record of publications, conference presentations, and/or patents. Candidates must demonstrate or show potential for excellence in teaching, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and student engagement. The successful candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to collegiality and teamwork. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with background in biomedical engineering, cyber security, high performance computing, internet of things, robotics and controls, power systems, or power electronics are strongly encouraged. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching and scholarship. A record of curricular innovation, entrepreneurship and/or relevant industry experience is desirable. Funded research and/or a Professional Engineer license will be considered favorably. Responsibilities: This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level; student advising and mentorship; scholarship, research, and professional development; and service. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department. In addition to academic advising, faculty are expected to provide guidance to one of the department’s and college’s many student professional organizations or extracurricular design teams. Scholarship and research that contributes the field of engineering education and/or to the discipline can be demonstrated through refereed technical publications, conference presentations, and/or conducting workshops. Service includes student advising, serving on academic committees, supporting the Industry Advisory Council, and engaging in outreach activities. Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience. The Department: The EECE Department offers ABET-accredited bachelor’s degrees in Computer Engineering and in Electrical Engineering, offers a minor in Computer Engineering, and has a Master’s of Science program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
