(Grade 4) Reference: QMUL15634 Date posted: 09-Aug-2018 Closing date: 09-Sep-2018 Job profile Apply online Overview: Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine Centre for Cancer Prevention Senior Data Manager (full or part-time) The Preventive Neurology Unit (PNU) in the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine, Queen Mary, University of London, has a vacancy for a Senior Data Manager. A substantial part of the work of the PNU is the study of large health and illness-based datasets, including data from UK biobank and the East London GP database, with plans to expand to other national data sources including CPRD. The PNU coordinates a large-scale online risk cohort for Parkinson’s disease with web-based data capture on up to 10,000 participants, and plans to expand these methods for dementia and multiple sclerosis. The post-holder will work closely with the PNU statistician on these datasets, including data cleaning, storage, and retrieval. They will be expected to both manage data acquired from large existing sources, and ensure data quality in prospectively collected longitudinal databases. They will also facilitate the contractual and practical aspects of data sharing with other research groups and authorised collaborators. The candidate should be a University graduate in a quantitative discipline, with experience in working with large databases, and have good interpersonal and communication skills. Experience of statistical packages and health service data would be an advantage. The post is fixed-term for 18 months, and applications from candidates wishing to work less than full time will be given equal consideration for the role (minimum 50%FTE). The starting salary for all posts will be in the range of £32,956 - £38,709 pro rata per annum (inclusive of London Allowance).
