Duties: Provides college administration, governance councils, and other internal and external stakeholders of the institution accurate data that can be used in the decision-making process. Assembles data from multiple sources, cleans and analyzes complex datasets in areas, including but not limited to: internal data requests, survey research, ad hoc research projects, assessments and evaluation, program/institutional accreditation, and state/federal reporting. Interprets the data with accuracy and presents key findings to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. Responsible for analyzing and reporting data to meet state, federal and accreditation deadlines
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Educational Research, Mathematics, or a closely related field requiring quantitative analysis or significant progress made towards earning a Master’s or Ph.D. in the quantitative programs noted above from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Relevant coursework or experience working in evaluation, outcome-based assessment research, or applied survey research. Demonstrated experience conducting statistical analyses using statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, R) mastery of online survey software (e.g., Qualtrics)
   
Text: Posting Details Position Information Job Title Research Programmer and Analyst - AMTC/Community Campus Job Description GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION : The Research Programmer and Analyst is responsible for administering surveys and assessments, creating queries to extract data out of an Oracle Database (programming), analyzing RAW data files to meet internal requests and state/federal reporting requirements, writing professional reports for a diverse audience, constructing instruments and evaluation plans, and designing ad hoc research projects. The position requires a high amount of independent work and will report to the Associate Vice President of Research and Effectiveness.* Essential Duties Summary DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : 1. Provides college administration, governance councils, and other internal and external stakeholders of the institution accurate data that can be used in the decision-making process. 2. Reports - Assembles data from multiple sources, cleans and analyzes complex datasets in areas, including but not limited to: internal data requests, survey research, ad hoc research projects, assessments and evaluation, program/institutional accreditation, and state/federal reporting. Interprets the data with accuracy and presents key findings to internal and external stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. 3. Consultation - Designs and coordinates various ad hoc research projects based off of institutional need, facilitates the administration of assessments, and creates comprehensive evaluation plans. 4. Programming - creating queries to extract data out of an Oracle Database. The ability to navigate and query information within Banner. 5. Survey Research - Assists with managing and maintaining survey research at the institution which includes but is not limited to: collaborating with internal/external stakeholders to understand their specific needs, designing high quality surveys and a sound methodology to meet the specific need, distributing the survey, analyzing the results, and preparing customized summary reports. Works closely with the Research Assistant to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in our survey research model. 6. Responsible for analyzing and reporting data to meet state, federal and accreditation deadlines. 7. Planning - As it relates to the institutional effectiveness planning process, this individual will assist in creating customized Key Performance Indicator reports for each division by analyzing RAW files. These divisional planning reports will allow unit report writers to track performance and enable them to make data-driven decisions. 8. Ensures that all reports and generated output are delivered with accuracy and by the established deadline. The individual should pay excellent attention to detail, use analytical skills to solve complex problems and correct data errors when they arise at the source. 9. Provides ongoing training, support and educational opportunities to our employees on IR related topics and promotes a culture of assessment at the institution. Prepares and presents employee development educational sessions based off employee needs and the individual’s area of expertise. 10. Assists with the creation of Tableau visualizations. Designs dashboards and data visualizations. 11. Works cooperatively and effectively with other college staff members, faculty and administration. Practices excellent customer service in their daily interaction with stakeholders. 12. Ability to work within strict deadlines. 13. Assumes responsibility for special assignments initiated by the administration or our stakeholders. 14. High-level productive researcher who has a passion for working with complex datasets and transforming data into meaningful information that can be used to drive decision-making at the college. 15. Works well with individuals from diverse backgrounds and personalities. 16. Demonstrates a strong skillset in evaluation, research, assessment and statistical analysis techniques, as well as have the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner with limited supervision. 17. Able to work effectively in a high-pressure environment. 18. Adheres to all policies, procedures, and laws governing the employees of the institution. 19. Serves on college committees and councils, as assigned. 20. Meets required training hours and upgrades skill and performance through the Employee Development Program. 21. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Research and Effectiveness or Executive Vice President of Teaching & Learning and Community Campus. *Applicants selected for an interview will be required to submit a work sample as part of the selection process. Mandatory Qualifications MANDATORY : (M1) Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Educational Research, Mathematics, or a closely related field requiring quantitative analysis OR significant progress made towards earning a Master’s or Ph.D. in the quantitative programs noted above from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. (M2) Relevant coursework or experience working in evaluation, outcome-based assessment research, or applied survey research. (M3) Demonstrated experience conducting statistical analyses using statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS , R) mastery of online survey software (e.g., Qualtrics), OR mastery of a programming language (e.g., SQL ). (M4) Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrates the ability to write articles about complex findings in a concise manner that is easy for the end-user to consume. (M5) Excellent time management and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications DESIRABLE : (D1) A Master’s or Ph.D., or significant progress towards those degrees, in Statistics, Computer Science, Educational Research, Mathematics, or a closely related field requiring quantitative analysis from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. (D2) Knowledge in Banner, Qualtrics, SPSS , and R. (D3) Experience building predictive models, designing visual analytics in Tableau, extracting data through SQL Developer, coordinating institutional assessments, and assisting with the institutional planning process.
