Duties: The incumbent will primarily work under a USDA Forest Service-funded project in developing quantitative models of outdoor recreation visitation at National Forests. The models will be developed to include specific information available from infrastructure and inventory data at specific recreation sites within national forests, along with Census data from the relevant spatial market area
Requirements: The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Natural Resources, Agriculture/Applied Economics, Geography or a closely related field. • Strong statistical and/or econometric modeling skills (e.g., count data modeling, multivariate, nonlinear regression), GIS skills (ArcGIS in general, and spatial analysis and geo-statistical analysis in particular). • Ability to work independently, and to function as part of interdepartmental and multi-institutional teams. • Candidates with experience in economic analysis of outdoor recreation, and visitation modeling as well as skills in statistical programs such as R, SAS, STATA, are preferred
   
Text: Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Department of Foresty, Wildlife & Fisheries A post-doctoral research associate position is available within the Department of Forestry, Wildlife, & Fisheries, at the University of Tennessee-Institute of Agriculture, to work with FWF faculty and research scientists from USDA Forest Service. This is a full-time position available for approximately 1 year, depending upon the availability of external funding. The incumbent will primarily work under a USDA Forest Service-funded project in developing quantitative models of outdoor recreation visitation at National Forests. The models will be developed to include specific information available from infrastructure and inventory data at specific recreation sites within national forests, along with Census data from the relevant spatial market area. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Work on developing econometric and statistical models of outdoor recreation participation and site occupancy. • Interpret results and write manuscripts for high quality disciplinary or interdisciplinary journals. • Present results at regional or national conferences as needed. • Work in a team to complement research efforts of ongoing projects with the project collaborators as needed. In addition, annual and sick leave, and the option to participate in group insurance plans and the deferred compensation program in accordance with UT policy.
