Duties: We are now recruiting for a KTP Associate who will work full time based at Techna in Watford, on this innovative project putting the latest academic research into practice. Your role will be to lead and successfully deliver the KTP between UCL and Techna. The project aims to develop a robust autonomous robotic solution (including a robotic arm component) for use in small warehouse environments. At the end of the 2 year period, you will deliver a functional protoype robot that can be used in the company's warehouses and beyond
Requirements: The successful candidate should possess a First or 2.1 degree in Electronics & Electrical Engineering/Computer Science (or closely related subject) combined with a relevant Masters level qualification in Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation Control, Control Engineering or a related discipline. They should also have knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System), Linux, C and/or MCU programming. A PhD in Robotics is desirable and a requirement to be appointed at Grade 7. Appointment at Grade 6 or 7 will be dependent on the candidate's skills and experience

UCL (Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering & Department of Computer Science) and Techna International are coming together through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), a national scheme which helps businesses to innovate and grow, by linking businesses with a university and a highly qualified graduate known as a KTP Associate. We are now recruiting for a KTP Associate who will work full time based at Techna in Watford, on this innovative project putting the latest academic research into practice. Your role will be to lead and successfully deliver the KTP between UCL and Techna. The project aims to develop a robust autonomous robotic solution (including a robotic arm component) for use in small warehouse environments. At the end of the 2 year period, you will deliver a functional protoype robot that can be used in the company's warehouses and beyond. The post carries a ?4,600 dedicated training budget for the candidate. Whilst funding is available to support this post for 2 years in the first instance, this project is crucial to delivering a long term vision for Techna and significant personal and career opportunities may be available for the right candidate beyond the initial 2 year period. Key Requirements The successful candidate should possess a First or 2.1 degree in Electronics & Electrical Engineering / Computer Science (or closely related subject) combined with a relevant Masters level qualification in Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation Control, Control Engineering or a related discipline. They should also have knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System), Linux, C and/or MCU programming. A PhD in Robotics is desirable and a requirement to be appointed at Grade 7. Appointment at Grade 6 or 7 will be dependent on the candidate's skills and experience. If the successful candidate is about to complete their PhD, appointment will be made at Grade 6B, point 24 - 26, on the UCL salary scale ?30,316 and ?31,967 per annum (inclusive of London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7, point 29 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections). Applicants should be able to interpret and clearly articulate technical and complex information and have knowledge of electronic and mechanical hardware development.
