Duties: We are seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to participate in the research project “Probabilistic and Deterministic Topology’ funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The project studies probabilistic models of large random spaces and investigates their topological and geometric properties. One of the major goals is to use newly developed probabilistic techniques for solving important questions of deterministic topology which are currently open. Large random spaces can also be used for modelling large complex systems in various practical applications

About the role We are seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to participate in the research project “Probabilistic and Deterministic Topology’ funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The research will be undertaken under the supervision of Professor Michael Farber. The project studies probabilistic models of large random spaces and investigates their topological and geometric properties. One of the major goals is to use newly developed probabilistic techniques for solving important questions of deterministic topology which are currently open. Large random spaces can also be used for modelling large complex systems in various practical applications. Applicants should possess an excellent knowledge of algebraic topology and have a proven record of conducting research; knowledge and experience of working in other relevant research areas of mathematics (such as applied probability or combinatorics) will be an advantage. Pay & Benefits The post is full time, fixed term appointment for three years, with an expected start date of 1 November 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter until 31 October 2021.
